Little Ashes Trailer

In the midst of the Twilight mayhem, let's not forget that Rob has another movie on the horizon in which he plays Salvador Dali - arguably his best performance to date. This latest description of Little Ashes contains some fascinating descriptions from the director as well as some interesting production notes.

For those of you who are not yet familiar with the story, it provides some historical information as well as brief descriptions of the characters and the actors who portray them. Here's the summary on Rob:

"Heartthrob Robert Pattinson started acting on the stage at the age of 15. He first gained recognition as Cedric Diggory, the young man who woos the object of Harry Potter’s affection in the immensely popular ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.’ From there he was cast as another literary cult figure, the iconic vampire Edward Cullen in ‘Twilight’, the movie based on the acclaimed best-selling book series. With ‘Little Ashes,’ Robert continues to prove he is an actor not fearful of challenge. Robert’s films also include the comedy ‘How to Be.’ In 2005, at the age of twenty, Robert was named the British Star of Tomorrow by Times Online."

"One Of The Most Conspicuous Film Stars Of The Next Decade"

The Irish Times published this fantastic interview with Rob Pattinson. He talks about the job he got cut from and how that helped his career, living out of a suitcase, keeping the same friends through his crazy schedule, and seeing himself on magazine covers. The author, Donald Clarke, had these complimentary words about Rob:

"Next Big Things come along quite frequently. But I would be astonished if Robert Pattinson did not go on to become one of the most conspicuous film stars of the next decade. Fiendishly charismatic with narrow eyes and hair that obeys its own defiant rules, he combines the looks of an archetypal movie rebel with a striking intelligence that should, all being well, keep him out of the usual Hollywood catastrophes."

A few quotes from Rob:

"I did Jay Leno the other day and he asked how it's been for the last few months," he says. "I had to say that it didn't explode until the previous five days. It was that fast. The other day I went in to buy a bagel in this place I normally go. There were four magazines with me on the cover. One said I was heading for a breakdown. Then I'm on Leno, looking at his iconic face. It is so weird."

"Well, I have been skipping off around the world for ages," he says. "And I have somehow managed to keep the same friends throughout all that time. We all do things where we are leaving home for ages. That's par for the course. But I never have much of a social life anyway."

Facinelli Shows Some Love

Peter Facinelli talks about Twilight in this CanMag interview - Interesting!!

Facinelli thinks the transformations of himself and costars reflects the skill with which director Catherine Hardwicke cast the film. "If you had blonde hair, you dyed it brown. If you had brown hair you dyed it blonde. That was Catherine saying she has a vision. 'These are actors that have the qualities of these characters that I'm looking for and I can make them look like the characters from the book.' And she did that. That was really nice. Once people saw the transformation, then they came on board but at first none of us looked like our characters."

As the leader of the Cullen vampire clan, Facinelli felt a bit of fatherly love for his on screen children. "We spent a lot of time together in rehearsals, a lot of time helping each other. I think there's a bond there because we all respected each other as actors and we all respected each other as people and we really all enjoy each other's company. And I mean, when I see them, they put a smile on my face. I actually fell in love like a family love for all of the Cullens and for Bella and for Jacob. When I see this cast, it makes me happy. I just want to go over and give them a hug. I felt like that's how it was while we were shooting. I enjoy them."

Rob Will Win An Oscar

Yes, that is my prediction. Any man who walked around with journals, detailing his wants (can someone say "The Secret"?) is destined to find success. While Twilight brought him fame, his other works will bring him respect (Little Ashes, How To Be). As I told my fellow "fangirls"- one day we will be watching his acceptance speech, laughing and crying and screaming all at the same time (just like 12 year olds at a Hannah Montana concert).

Read these fantastic words the executive producer of Little Ashes, Carlo Dusi, had to say about Rob Pattinson:

"Robert Pattinson was as friendly, approachable and fun to be around in our downtime as he was a true professional while on set, and his commitment to becoming Salvador Dali' was extremely impressive - and paid off in generating a performance which I personally think is extraordinary."

Director Of Little Ashes Compliments Rob

Little Ashes director, Paul Morrison conveys very complementary words about Rob. In this exclusive (and fascinating) interview, conducted as the movie was being seen by distributors in the UK, he discusses his hopes for the movie and his opinion of Rob.

Did you do research into the characters, or did you leave more of that up to the actors?

Well in the period I described to you, when you’re honing the script, I don’t do too much research. I like my head to be clear, to think about the drama and the writing of the story. (I do more) afterward, when I’m going to be asked loads of questions by really smart actors (laughs) - particularly Robert, who’s very very smart. Every actor is different, some just work from the page some like to do a lot of research. For me it was important that the actors weren’t mimicking the characters, particularly with Dali where there is a lot of media and footage and people have an idea about him in their heads – a caricature of Dali. These were young guys and it was very important that they act from their hearts rather than their heads.

Robert Pattinson In Little Ashes - Clip

Access Hollywood has gifted us with a trailer for Little Ashes - Robert Pattinson's next movie. He filmed this before Twilight and researched intensely to play Salvador Dali. I cannot WAIT for this movie to come out! Of course, any chance to see Rob is as sweet as eating cotton candy, but I'm really looking forward to his performance in this one. The director has some very nice things to say about Mr. Pattinson which I will post shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the clip.

Broken Record, Frogger, & Addictions

Seventeen Magazine has compiled some random quotes from Rob.

"I've got a terrible memory—I end up repeating myself quite a lot. The only thing I can remember is that I'm going to repeat myself!"

"I'm really afraid of getting hit by cars, like terrified of it. I'm terrified of crossing streets. I'm also very accident-prone...I think people aim for me."

"I went to do my first big movie when I was 17. I was in South Africa for three and half months, and I was by myself."

"I was just taking out my trash and I had, like, 300 cans of Diet Coke. It was just like, 'How did that happen?' I don't even remember buying them. I also like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. My addictions are pretty much the only things I consume."

"If I go and try to watch a movie by myself I'll be completely transfixed the whole time, concentrating one hundred percent. But if I'm with another person on a date or something, within two minutes I'll be like 'This is rubbish, this is rubbish. We should leave and do something else.' I don't really know why."

"It sounds lame, but I was really concentrating on this job. It was my first American thing so I was pretty focused. I went to Portland for two months before we starting shooting, and I just didn't talk to anybody for ages during the beginning of the shoot. I never went out, but I kind of broke down half way through. I was like, 'Okay, people are starting to think that I'm actually out of my mind now.'"

New Clip Of Rob In Little Ashes

Variety just posted a new clip of Rob Pattinson in Little Ashes. Rob play Salvador Dali in this movie, due out in spring of 2009. This movie isn't for your average Twilighter. I'm truly impressed by Rob and I can't wait for this movie. I think it will gain him a lot of credibility in the business. That coupled with his new found fame among fans adds up to a very successful career. Let's just hope he can handle it. I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing him evolve. I think this movie will start to show his range as an actor.

David Cook Interview

This is a great article/interview with David Cook on his success since Idol and what song made him break down in tears:
After recording the track in two takes, “I actually called my dad and wept openly for about 10 minutes,” he says.
“I didn’t put up a front,” says Cook, who dates former Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell. “I wasn’t trying to be anything else. I wasn’t trying to cater to any particular person. I just was on the show, you know? And so, when I cried, it was real. When I laughed, it was real. And, I don’t know. Maybe that hit a nerve with some people.”
Following the Idol finale, Cook jumped immediately into writing sessions for his album. He recruited Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo and a team of songwriters including Chris Cornell, Brian Howes and Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Cavallo compares Cook to big-voiced former Journey frontman Steve Perry, who dropped by the studio while Cook was recording.

“He really is an unbelievably gifted singer,” Cavallo says of Cook. “There’s no song on the record that he didn’t sing in two or three takes. ... He can sing harmony to any of his songs automatically without even thinking about it.”

"Die First, See What It's Like"

In this interview, Rob admits to liking girls he can't have, his thoughts on death and afterlife, and his embarrassing audition scene that was sprung on him.

David Cook On Regis And Kelly 11-19-08

Still as cute as ever!! LOVE seeing his with the band:

Andy Skib: guitar and keyboard
Neal Teimann aka "Doctor": guitar
Kyle Peek: drums
Joey Clement: base

David sang for Hillary Clinton at Carnegie Hall! Hillary voted for David Cook! Or at least had her friends call in while she was campaigning! That is awesome news. Ok, I found one thing I like about Hillary. She voted for David so I can't hate her. And maybe it helped cost her the nomination. We can only hope. Enjoy....
